Kidspiration

Today we worked in small groups using the app kidspiration to classify insects.
This is the result of Molly, Jordyn, Bella, Skylah and Lily's research.

The girls told me they were all insects because........

   * they have 6 legs  ( Jordyn )
   * they have a hard skeleton on the outside of their         body ( Lily )
   * they have antennae ( Syylah)
   * they have a head and thorax ( Molly )
   * they have an abdomen ( Bella )

So now can we answer our question.........

 Is a weta an insect?

Way to go Kahn!

Kahn told me I would have 9 bottles in my shopping basket after I bought 5 bottles of water and 4 bottles of milk. Great counting Kahn!

Molly's e mail

Molly, you have an e mail waiting at school to share with the class. It is from Germany.
How exciting!

Molly, auf dich wartet ein Email in der Schule. Du kannst sie mit der Klasse zusammen lesen. Sie ist aus Deutschland. Wie aufregend!

Message From Germany ( Nachricht aus Deutschland )

Yesterday we got an e mail from Molly's grandmother who lives in Germany, and has been following our blog.
Gestern bekamen wir eine E-Mail von Molly Großmutter, die in Deutschland lebt, und ist nach unserem Blog.

We couldn't read it,so we went online to convert the message from German into English.
Wir konnten nicht lesen, also gingen wir online, um die Nachricht vom Deutschen ins Englische zu konvertieren.

This is what it said.
Dies ist, was sie sagte.

Es ist besonders schön Molly Meek und ihre Mitschüler im Unterricht beobachten zudürfen .Danke dem Lehrerpersonal dafür. Grüße von Mollys Oma aus Deutschland.

It is particularly nice observing Molly Meek and her classmates in the classroom.
Many thanks to the teachers for making this possible.
Greetings from Molly's Nana in Germany.

Fun Day Friday

Miss Komen was teaching in Room 5 on Friday. She made ice cream with the students because they had been learning the name and sounds for the letter i during the week for phonics.

The children were very excited and intrigued as to how these ingredients.....

when mixed together in a plastic bag and then put inside a bag of ice, could turn into ice cream.

AMAZING! WOW! How did that happen? These were some of the student's responses.

Parents perhaps you could investigate this with your child and put your findings as a comment on the blog for us to discuss.

The children got to eat their ice cream with some jelly made by our senior master chef students.
Thanks Aimee for sharing the jelly with us.

Rap-Unzel

Today we went to watch what we thought might be the traditional tale of Rupunzel. We were very much mistaken.

Parents ask your children to tell you about The NZ Playhouse's take on the fairy tale.

We loved Rap-Punzel. Look how engaged we were as an audience.

We even got to meet the characters.

Thanks NZ Playhouse for an afternoon full of laughter.
